Be an EAA AirVenture Volunteer

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR EAA AIRVENTURE 2010 (AirVenture Dates, July 26 - August 1, 2010)

VOLUNTEERS have been at the heart of EAA's accomplishments throughout the years. EAA AIRVENTURE VOLUNTEERS share the adventures of the world's most significant aviation event. All interests, experience and skills can find application as an EAA AirVenture Volunteer. Listed below are the areas seeking individuals willing to spend some time in ensuring the success of our 58th Annual Convention. Be sure to sign a volunteer sign-up sheet at the area in which you provide your services so proper recognition can be extended to you after the convention.

ACTIVITY CENTER

Aircraft Greeter - Airplane Greeters are always in demand, both prior to and during EAA AirVenture. Must be able to stand for 3-4 hours and be in the sun. Must be at least 18 yrs old.

Craft Tent - Volunteers assist with signing up participants for craft classes and help with distributing craft packets available for purchase. No craft experience needed.

Flying Cinema - running videos for EAA members who wish to take in an Aviation movie, the volunteer plays the movies at the times listed on the schedule.

Hospitality Pavilion - the place to meet old friends and make new ones. Offering refreshments to all who stop by, help needed with the refreshments.

Activity Center Office - Sign in volunteers and answer EAA member questions.

BABY SERVICES

Volunteers needed, Moms, Grandmas and Teens. Help hostess the Mother/Baby Nursing Station. Contact Peggy McDowell, via e-mail at peggyart@newnorth.net, or by phone at 715-453-9632.

DEVELOPMENT DEPT.

Hospitality Area - Looking for volunteers to man the area, assist with refreshments, talk with guests and donors.

Member Welcome Center- Information and sales support for area in Welcome Center.

Office Support - Phone and guest reception support, information and referral, running errands.

Special Events - Volunteer for the Gathering of Eagles Gala, and/or Women Soar. Needed prior to and during both of these special evenings.

FLIGHT LINE OPERATIONS - APPLETON - Volunteers needed, in Appleton at Outagamie County Airport, to help with field parking of aircraft and driving courtesy vans within the airport grounds. FLIGHT LINE OPERATIONS - FOND DU LAC - Volunteers needed to assist with General Aviation arrivals in aircraft parking/camping areas at the airport in Fond Du Lac. For more information, contact Pete Vercouteren at vpete101@aol.com.

FLIGHT LINE OPERATIONS - OSHKOSH - Volunteers assist General Aviation arrivals in aircraft parking/camping areas and control aircraft ground traffic on Oshkosh taxiways. Contact Fred Stadler via e-mail at eaa.flo@usa.net.

INTERNATIONAL AEROBATIC CLUB (IAC) - Volunteers needed with aerobatics knowledge to work our main desk answering questions and greeting visitors to our building. Also volunteers to run the cash register and answer general questions in our merchandising area. Contact IAC at 920-426-6574 or email iac@eaa.org.

MAINTENANCE - Volunteers needed for pre-convention, site preparations, general maintenance duties, including carpentry, landscaping, painting and sewing/flower planting projects throughout the convention site. Also need volunteers for post convention for general clean-up and tear down. If interested, contact Steve Taylor, at staylor@eaa.org or 920-426-4819, EAA Aviation Center, P.O. MERCHANDISE - Volunteers needed from July 5 until convention for sorting, counting, marking, folding and hanging of clothing and general merchandise. Also from June 29 through convention, volunteers are needed for moderate lifting of fixtures and merchandise. Contact Kris at kpbaumgartner@eaa.org or 920-426-4841.

From July 25 through August 2 volunteers are needed to assist with sales, customers and restocking in our Authors Corners locations. Technical and/or historical aircraft knowledge and experience are extremely beneficial in assisting our customers during the event. Contact Kristin at kschaick@eaa.org or 920-426-6155.

OPERATION THIRST - Volunteers needed to help make sandwich lunches for volunteers, must be over 16 years old. Also need pilots to drive vans for approx. 2 hours daily. If you are interested; please contact Ann Hamilton at 419-886-2166 or 1237 Poorman Rd., Bellville, OH 44813.

PRESENTATIONS HOST - Volunteers are needed to act as hosts at each of the presentation venues on the AirVenture grounds and at the AirVenture Museum. During these presentations, you will count the attendance at each event and perform other duties as needed to assist the presenter. Benefits include participation in the rich educational experience that these presentations offer. Interested persons should contact Mark Forss via mforss@eaa.org or 920-426-6588.

PRINT/MAIL CENTER - If interested volunteering in the following, contact Randy Halberg at rhalberg@eaa.org AM Paper Delivery Team - (12 people) Must be at least 14 years old. Walking route - deliver papers to all exhibitors. Must commit to 4 hours per day - July 26 - Aug 1. Distribution Crew Members (4-8 people) - Commitment of 4-8 hours per day - July 26 - Aug 1. Distribute promotional materials to buildings and gates,fill magazine boxes, frequent lifting of 45 lbs. or more, working outside. Pre-AirVenture Crew - Commitment of 4-8 hours per day - July 19 - July 25. Assist in distributing promotional materials to buildings and gate, lifting of 45 lbs. or more, working outside.

REGISTRATION - NORTH 40 - Volunteers needed to work with computers, greet visitors, register them for camping/passes, and answering questions. If interested please contact Ken Jordan at ken@jordanhome.us.

TRAMS - Drivers and Conductors needed. Drivers License required and must be at least 18 years of age, training provided. 6 hours shifts begin at 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. Contact Jim Sternat, EAA Aviation Center, PO Box 3086, Oshkosh, WI 54903 or call 920-379-7883, or email jsternat@eaa.org.

VOLUNTEER CENTERS - The Camp Scholler volunteer center is open prior to and during AirVenture. We also have a volunteer center on the convention site that is open just during AirVenture. If you would like to volunteer some of your time while attending AirVenture, please stop at one of these locations. There are always last minute projects that we could use your help with!
