GES
AND KARL'S HOLD PRICES FOR AIRVENTURE 2010
One way AirVenture is responding to the soft economy is holding
exhibitor 2009 pricing for 2010. In addition, GES and Karl's -
our main exhibitor suppliers - are maintaining their 2009 prices
this year. Holding those rates, along with exhibitor rates, will
help keep exhibitor costs steady at Oshkosh this year, allowing
AirVenture to continue to be a great value for companies that
display their goods and services at the convention.
|
WE'RE
GOING WHERE?
During
the first few weeks of February, we'll begin the placement
process. Remember that Priority One applications will be
assigned first, based on a variety of factors, including total
partnership, longevity, product mix, etc. After all Priority One
exhibitors are located, subsequent priority numbers will be
assigned.
|
WHEN
DO WE FIND OUT?
We know many of you incorporate your exhibit location with your
pre-AirVenture marketing. Your booth confirmations will be
e-mailed in early March. If an e-mail address is not provided on
the 2010 exhibitor application, you will receive your booth
confirmation via mail after March 1. |
ADVERTISING
OPPORTUNITIES AT AERO
EAA will once again be participating at AERO Friedrichshafen in
Germany April 8-11. Our goal is to increase our brand visibility
by describing what EAA is and what we do, present EAA member
benefits at AERO, encourage EAA memberships, and enhance and
establish business relationships. We also hope that our
participation in AERO provides business advantages to you!
Here's
how: EAA will be working with AERO on a show daily with
advertising opportunities and discounts. AERO Today has
free distribution at all show gates and special newsstand
locations throughout the show site as well as copies delivered
to every exhibit daily. Special advertising packages are also
available for AERO Today with EAA Sport Aviation
and our show daily for our Oshkosh show, EAA AirVenture Today.

HANGAR
C GETS A MAKEOVER
When the snow and ice thaw, Hangar C will be getting a facelift.
The hangar will be expanded to create additional exhibit space
including island booths to create a more open feel within the
hangar. In addition to the expansion, permanent restroom
facilities will be installed between Hangar A and C. Be sure to
visit Steve Taylor's blog for regular AirVenture 2010 updates at

GETTING
READY FOR 2010 AVIATION EVENTS
Now that the holidays are over, EAA staff members are preparing
for our presence at 2010 aviation events in the U.S. and
elsewhere. First up will be the U.S. Sport Aviation Expo in
Sebring, Fla., Jan. 21-24. Other upcoming events include the
Women in Aviation International Conference, AERO Friedrichshafen
in Germany, and, of course, Sun 'n Fun in Lakeland, Florida. |
ALL-NEW
EAA SPORT AVIATION LAUNCHED IN JANUARY
We rang in 2010 with the re-launch of EAA Sport Aviation.
Initial reaction to the magazine's re-launch has been
overwhelmingly positive. Some of the phrases used in the notes
we've received thus far have included "home run,"
"even more impressive than you had let on," "this
is a giant step forward," and "stunning."
The accolades come from members and business partners who feel
the magazine better addresses their interests! If we haven't
yet, we would like to hear from you. Feedback is key to
producing a magazine that meets the needs and interests of our
broad audience.
The
input we received from our membership and from our business
partners (our meetings with many of you during AirVenture
Oshkosh 2009 provided a great source of guidance) helped us develop an
all-new Sport Aviation magazine that our entire
membership - pilots and enthusiasts, builders and restorers -
will anticipate, engage with, and buy from.
The
new Sport Aviation serves the entire membership with
more:
- Extensive
depth and breadth of aviation editorial
- Signature
content with aviation industry guest editorials
- "How
do I" content - for builders and restorers AND pilots
and enthusiasts
- Coverage
of innovation and technology
- Member
involvement and participation
- Themed
issues, Flight Tests and Product Reviews
- Connection
to EAA's e-newsletters, web videos, and online community
- EAA
award-winning photography
Advertising
rates will not increase in 2010 - AND-each page is 17 percent
larger than the previous format. That means you get more space
for your investment in the magazine that has the broadest
editorial content and coverage for recreational aviation today!
For more information about EAA's advertising opportunities,
contact EAA's Advertising Office at 920-426-6127. |

during the event, contact the EAA Sponsorship Office at sponsorship@eaa.org

AVIATORS
MARKETPLACE - A BIG HIT AT AIRVENTURE
EAA's Aviators Marketplace made its grand debut at AirVenture
2009, with several kiosks strategically placed throughout the
grounds. The kiosks were located in the EAA Welcome Center and
the four main exhibit buildings, and were met with an
overwhelming response. They provided attendees with an effective
tool to find exhibitors throughout AirVenture grounds, and
included exhibitor booth numbers and a map.
Aviators
Marketplace is a filtered search engine, providing EAA members
and aviation enthusiasts with a robust shopping experience in
finding whatever aviation service, product, or accessory they're
looking for. To preview the web site, log on to www.aviatorsmarketplace.com.

THE
BROWN ARCH - LEAVE YOUR MARK
Since the EAA fly-in (AirVenture) arrived in Oshkosh in 1970,
the "Brown Arch" has been the gateway to all that
existed in the world of aviation. As Tom Poberezny noted, the
"Brown Arch has been the gateway to countless aviation
dreams and accomplishments ... millions of people have walked
under this arch to discover the innovation, imagination, and
craftsmanship within the thousands of airplanes that have been a
part of the 'Oshkosh Experience.'"
AirVenture
2009 brought great changes to Oshkosh with the expansion of the
grounds to the rededication of the Brown Arch as "The
Gateway to Aviation." But the culture, camaraderie,
volunteerism, and impact have remained the same. And we want to
take time to thank you for the part you continue to play at
AirVenture. You have helped us nurture an environment in which
innovation and entrepreneurialism soar.
We
invite you to "leave your mark" permanently in Oshkosh
- to purchase a tribute brick upon which you can inscribe your
own message or place your company logo for all to see for years
to come. When you purchase a full brick, you may select the
location of your brick! Please visit the web site at www.airventure.org/arch
for more information and to select and reserve your brick. As
with all EAA opportunities, your commitment may be pledged over
time. This opportunity also makes a great holiday gift! Feel
free to call Elissa Lines direct (920-426-6101) if you have any
questions.

MEMORIAL
WALL
Honor the memory of that special someone whose support and
passion for aviation positively impacted your life by dedicating
a plaque on EAA's Memorial Wall. Located on the edge of Pioneer
Airport near the Fergus Chapel, the Memorial Wall provides a
dignified place for families and friends to remember and honor
these loved ones. Its centerpiece is a monument formed of
thousands of stones brought to Oshkosh from EAA members' home
states and countries. On both sides of the centerpiece, bronze
plaques are installed annually to honor individuals whose names
were submitted for permanent recognition. The Memorial Wall is
our way of saying, "thank you," to them for sharing
their talents and enthusiasm and for inspiring a new generation
of passionate aviation enthusiasts.
To
have your special tribute recognized during this year's
dedication ceremony at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh, your order must
be in by April 12. With a donation of $350 or more, you can
personalize the plaque with the person's name and outstanding
details of their life. Each Memorial Wall plaque inscription
allows for two text lines consisting of 28 characters each
(includes spaces, punctuation, etc.). Special commemorative
rubbing paper will be available before and after the service for
guests to make individual rubbings of the plaque. If you would
like to remember a friend or loved one by participation in the
EAA Memorial Wall program, please email development@eaa.org
or phone 920-426-6563 or 800-236-1025.

COMPASS
HILL
Compass Hill is designed to celebrate this worldwide family and
its values of quality, innovation, and the freedom of personal
flight. It is a focal point standing for the values that EAA has
embodied throughout its history and which it aspires to preserve
for the future. Compass Hill features a full size, four-figure
bronze sculpture that depicts a family on an aviation outing.
Benches on the summit accompany these figures, and serve as
resting places from which to view the spectacular scenery,
including Pioneer Airport and the beautiful EAA grounds. During
EAA AirVenture Oshkosh, this spot has an excellent view to watch
arriving and departing planes and to catch a glimpse of the air
show.
This
is your invitation to express your love of flying in a permanent
way by purchasing an engraved brick to celebrate your enthusiasm
for aviation or to recognize your friends, family members, or a
special occasion. Whether you are a pilot, a passenger, or
someone who simply has a love of aviation, your inscribed brick
on Compass Hill will be a lasting symbol of your support of
flying, the people who love it, and the timeless values EAA
expresses. Learn more by going to www.airventure.org/attractions/compass_hill.html.

HARRISON
FORD EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIP CHALLENGE
Established by Jim and Angela Thompson, this new scholarship
will enable young people of all backgrounds to apply for support
to help them pursue their aviation interests. Donations to this
fund will be matched by the Thompsons up to $100,000. It is
their hope that EAA members and friends will support this goal,
building a $200,000 scholarship fund in Harrison Ford's name,
honoring his five year commitment and service as EAA's Young
Eagles National Chairman. During his tenure as national leader
of Young Eagles, awareness for the program soared and nearly
500,000 young people became Young Eagles.
The
fund will provide assistance to young people seeking to take
their FAA written pilot's exam (after completing the free online
ground school training provided by EAA and Sporty's), take their
first formal flying lesson, attend EAA Air Academy residential
aviation camp, secure support to earn their sport pilot license,
or further their passion and interest in aviation through
tuition support - enabling them to pursue post secondary
education at an institution of their choice. To add your support
to this fund - impacting the lives of hundreds of youth - log on
to www.eaa.org/support/scholarships.asp.

BE
PART OF AVIATION'S GREATEST GATHERING NIGHT!
EAA AirVenture is also a great opportunity to join with the
aviation community to support the next generation of flight -
your future customers. The annual Gathering of Eagles fundraiser
held in the EAA AirVenture Museum is a terrific event. The funds
raised at the Gathering support historic preservation, youth
education, and the inspirational endeavors that prepare youth of
all backgrounds to become the aviators, engineers, innovators,
and dreamers of tomorrow. Programs such as EAA Young Eagles help
ensure that our passion for flight and the can-do spirit tied to
aviation are passed to our youth. Through the years, the
Gathering of Eagles has become an event that brings together
every segment of the aviation community, from pilots and
personalities to the world's top aviation companies and leaders.
There are two ways you can be part of this tremendous event:
Through the purchase of tickets and tables, and through the
donation of valuable items used for the night's auctions. You
can join the aviation visionaries by contacting EAA's
Development Office at 800-236-1025 or at development@eaa.org.
Last year's event sold out well before the start of AirVenture,
so don't delay in making your plans. Complete information will
be posted on the web at www.airventure.org/gathering.
