Several
new insurance plan features through the EAA Aircraft Insurance Plan
were announced Tuesday at AirVenture. Since the April announcement
of coverage for powered parachutes and weight-shift control trikes,
EAA has added an additional two companies—PM Aviation, one of the
world’s largest ultralight aircraft manufacturers, and Hughes Aero
Corporation, manufacturer of PREDATOR brand personalized powered
parachutes—to its already expansive roster.
"Affordability
is our number one goal in addition to making sure each person
receives the right coverage," said Bob Mackey of EAA’s
Aircraft Insurance Plan. "Aviation insurance is largely
unregulated, and as such, a cookie-cutter approach simply doesn’t
work. The EAA Aircraft Insurance Plan tailors coverage to each pilot
and his or her aircraft, ensuring each person receives the best
coverage possible."
The
EAA Aircraft Insurance Plan has numerous exclusive EAA member
benefits. Key features of the plan include:
-
Coverage
for sport pilots and light-sport aircraft
-
First-flight
coverage for new homebuilt airplanes
-
$50,000
aircraft hangar and hangar contents liability coverage
-
Coverage
for use of non-owned aircraft, including homebuilt and
light-sport aircraft
-
No
"sneaky" exclusions (no family restriction and no
"per-person" sub-limit)
-
After-the-sale
liability coverage for up to one year
